Snowboarding in Vermont

While you may think that the only places to get good snow are expensive resorts in exclusive locations, I challenge you to think again. I recently went on a vacation through the northeast with some of my family and stopped over in Killington Vermont. It's a medium sized resort with the highest peak with in the state of Vermont. I have been spoiled with family vacations as a kid to such skiing meccas as Park City Utah and Lake Taho so my expectations were low, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. The snow was quite good considering most east coast resorts are known for less than stellar snow. I love fresh fluffy powder and I wasn't disappointed. I was surprised to find how large the mountain was, obviously it pales in comparison to huge mountain complexes like Mammoth mountain in CA. With many runs of varying difficulty I had no problem finding new and challenging routes. From a snowboarders perspective there was only one small snowboard park and it was a little crowded. Nonetheless I had a good time in this small resort town. Our hotel were a somewhat reasonable $120 a night. So if you live in the northeast I would definitely recommend a stop by Killington in the winter. For everyone else I wouldn't recommend making the trip for just the skiing alone, but if you like fresh Vermont maple syrup (as I do) and are in the area for something else then stop by Killington for a night or two you wont regret it.

Oh yeah, if your going to urinate by the dumpster at a high school you see while driving up, make sure there are no students behind it. That's all I have to say about that.

Not going to NYC for new years and chillin in Boston.

After a lot of deliberation and a whole lot of gnashing of teeth I decided that I wouldn't go to New York City for new years. I know, I know, it's over rated and cold, but it's just plain classic. I didn't end up going because my sister got married!!! So I decided I would rather spend the day with my sister in Morristown New Jersey. In the end that's probably the better decision. On Jan 1 we drove up to Boston just to chill and see some sights.
First day in Boston I took a walk along the freedom trail. It was a really interesting and historical walk. A few of the buildings have been turned into nothing less than small shopping centers.

NYC for New Years Eve

A couple weeks ago my sister called me with an invite to come visit her over Christmas break. I thought this sounded like a good idea so we're going to give it a go. I should be gone for the last week of December into the first week of January of the new year. I'm pretty excited about the idea. My sister lives in New Jersey so it's just a short train ride to New York City for new years eve in times square. We are also planing on going to Vermont to go skiing/snowboarding (I'll be doing the latter). Then down to Boston Mass. All in all it sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.
